FontFind - Period (Antique, Vintage, or Retro) Font Styles
Many typefaces, especially those designed for display and for advertising, do not fit into the usual typeface categories. They are derived from lettering of the past found in inscriptions, book jackets, posters, signage and other types of graphic design. Such typefaces evoke historical periods such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco, 1950s Googie design, or the psychedelic 1960s. Typefaces of this kind are often called Retro or Period. Some examples are Eckmann (Art Nouveau), Broadway (Art Deco), Mojo (Psychedelia) and Data 70 (the Space Era). Typefaces with rough edges are often called Antique. The best known example is Caslon Anique which is not a Caslon at all.
