Installing Your Type Files
After you have downloaded your type files and uncompressed them, you are ready to install your type. Simply having the font files on your computer is only part of the installation process. To make the font available to your software programs and to be optimally viewed (smooth on screen) requires a few extra steps, especially for Windows users. The installation process also depends on the type of font you have: PostScript (Type 1) or Windows TrueType. If you use a font manager it may have a font installation option you can use. Otherwise, follow the appropriate instructions below.

Windows PostScript | Windows TrueType | Macintosh Postscript
Installing Windows Postscript Files
Postscript Font Files for WINDOWS ME/95/98/NT 4.0
1. Start Adobe Type Manager (ATM). It will probably be under Start > Programs > Adobe.

2.
Be sure that Source is set to Browse for Fonts.

3. Select the drive and the folder with the fonts you want to install  (make sure you have unzipped the fonts first!). ATM displays the list of available fonts.

4. Highlight the fonts you wish to install.

5. Click the Add button to install the fonts.

TIPS:
1. Windows PostScript (Type 1) fonts have two files: PFB (printer font binary has outlines that control how the font looks) and PFM (printer font metrics has information about font spacing). ATM installs both as long as both files are present.

2. With Windows Me/98/95/NT4, use ATM Deluxe, ATM Light, or ATM 4.0 or later.

3. With Windows 3.1/NT3.5.1 use ATM version 3.x.

Please note: You will also need Adobe Type Manager Light (ATM) to install PostScript fonts in Windows ME, 95, 98 or NT 4.0. If you need ATM, click here for a FREE download of this utility from Adobe (Current version for Windows: 4.1). ATM allows for optimal viewing (smooth rendering) of your fonts on screen. Otherwise, your PostScript fonts will appear to have jagged edges. ATM Light also allows you to print PostScript fonts on non PostScript printers. You will NOT need ATM to install PostScript or TrueType fonts on Windows 2000 or XP.
Postscript Type 1 Font Files for WINDOWS 2000/XP
1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel. 2. Double-click on the Fonts folder to display its contents.

3. Choose File > Install New Font.

4. In the Folders menu, navigate to the folder containing the fonts that you wish to install. A list of available fonts will appear in the List of Fonts window (make sure you have unzipped the fonts first)

5. Select and highlight the font you wish to install in the List of Fonts.

6. Click OK to install the fonts.

TIPS:
Windows Type 1 fonts have two files: PFB (printer font binary has outlines that control how the font looks) and PFM (printer font metrics has information about font spacing). Be sure you have both font files.

Please note: Windows 2000/XP have built-in PostScript font support and ATM can interfere with the built-in font management so the use of Adobe Type Manager (ATM) is NOT advised or required.
TrueType Font Files for WINDOWS 2000/XP

1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.

2. Double-click on the Fonts folder to display its contents.

3. Choose File > Install New Font.

4. Locate the fonts you want to install.
- In the Drives list, select the drive that contains the fonts you want to install.
- In the Folders list, select the folder that contains the fonts you want to install (make sure you have unzipped the fonts first). The fonts in the folder appear under List of Fonts.

5. Highlight the font to install from the List of Fonts window.

6. Click OK to install the fonts.

TIPS:
1. TrueType fonts work with all versions of the Windows operating system.

2. You can install a maximum of approximately 800 TrueType fonts in Windows ME/95/98.

3. You must be running Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later in order to install TrueType fonts.

Installing Macintosh Postscript Files
Postscript Type 1 Font Files for MAC OS 7.x - 9.x
OPEN the font folder and simply drag the icons of all font files (NOT the folders they are in, but the actual files) on to the "System Folder" icon on your hard drive. You should then get an alert that fonts belong in the fonts folder. Click "OK". Your fonts are now installed.

Please note: You will also need Adobe Type Manager Light (ATM) installed for optimal viewing (smooth rendering) of your PostScript fonts on screen. Otherwise, your fonts will appear to have jagged edges. ATM Light also allows you to print PostScript fonts on non PostScript printers. ATM Light is required for all versions of Mac OS 7-9, including Mac OS X Classic (which is OS 9). If you need ATM, click here for a FREE download of this utility from Adobe (Current version for Macintosh: 4.6).

TIPS:
1. You may need to restart the program or application that you are working in to see your new fonts. In some cases, may also need to restart your computer.

2. You can also install your fonts through ATM Deluxe, Suitcase, Master Juggler, Font Reserve or other font management/activation programs. Please refer to your user manual for installation instructions.
Postscript Type 1 Font Files for MAC OS 10.x
OPEN the font folder and simply drag the icons of all font files (NOT the folders they are in, but the actual files) on to the Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts folder. Your fonts are now installed

Please note: PostScript font support is built directly into Mac OS X. Therefore ATM is not required.

TIPS:
